Hello, I have been assigned to workserver 140.163.4.231 , seems my client wanted to start downloading, but nothing happens (I am writing this at 21 PM, last entry in my log is from 10:36 AM) ... 09:49:27:WU00:FS01:Connecting to 18.218.241.186:80 09:49:27:WARNING:WU00:FS01:Failed to get assignment fr...

Re: CPU vs GPU point rewards

The amount of science it yields forms the Base Points of a work unit. The way I look at it is … I drive both a sports car and an SUV … Well, maybe that's it - how do you measure "the amount of science?" If you need double precision instead of single precision, is it double the science? Or...

Re: CPU vs GPU point rewards

It is NOT Fair, it values quick results over slow results, that is why it is named the Quick Return Bonus. The researchers cannot assign the next set of work units until they get back all the previous set. so they reward speed and discourage abandoning WUs. Getting results may not have been how you...

Re: CPU vs GPU point rewards

So is was more accurate but vastly slower. ... top end GPUs have about 5000 (somewhat slower) threads so the brute force calculations are on GPUs while the boutique equations are on CPUs. So then the tasks that can be processes by the GPU, should be processed by the GPU, and the tasks that can be p...

Re: Can you add corona virus to the options?

You might expect that, and at this point I bet the programmer wishes he was allowed the extra time to write it that way. Sadly biochemists control the purse strings, and they tend to spend the money on biochemistry, not computer programming Well, in any case, apparently the GPU units are "take...

Re: Can you add corona virus to the options?

If that bothers you and you want us to not begin to cure COVID-19 for 18 months, we can have a 'perfect' solution by then. Me, I want to cure it now. That was quite rude reply to a new user. One might expect the list of categories is dynamic, no need for "programming" anything on client o...

CPU vs GPU point rewards

Hello, I am new here, so this may seem like a silly question that has already been answered... But I have tried searching the forum, but it says the keywords "points, cpu, gpu" are too common :) So anyway, why are the points for CPU tasks much lower than points for GPU tasks? Today I insta...
