xposted on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Folding/comments/1h0c2ho/the_official_faq_currently_says_that_ati_gpus_get/ Also, if that bit is out of date, maybe it's worth checking if the rest of that FLOPS FAQ page is up to date, since it's linked from a moderately prominent page https://stats.foldin...

The official FAQ currently says that ATI GPUs get half the performance of NVIDIA GPUs

https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/flops/ says: Why are the ATI x86 FLOP numbers half of the ATI native FLOP numbers? Due to a difference in the implementation (in part due to hardware differences), the ATI code must do two force calculations where the x86, Cell, and NVIDIA hardware need only do ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 5

Raspberry Pi 5 is still on the 28nm node I think - they stay on the "value nodes" to get good performance/$, but the result is that the compute/kWh is not great. It's low power when idling, but when number-crunching, it gets relatively poor performance for its power consumption. Take this ...

Want to run FAH only when plugged into a fast charger

Hey all, I've got a laptop with an Nvidia card. My problem with GPU work units is that, on the go, I use a USB C charger or power bank with only 45W input. Since FAH sees that the computer is plugged in, it plows ahead; the GPU power consumption causes the CPU to throttle to 0.4 GHz, and the compute...
