Re: It's getting better now, isn't it?

My client was completely idle all of yesterday for the first time since starting this. Something is definitely up..

Re: All diseases have to wait for Corona.

I've been getting cancer WUs both yesterday and today, and at a pretty consistent pace, too.

I suppose they've sorted out the servers and are "filling in the blanks" between COVID units with other units.

Re: GTX 1080 Ti Review (finally)

Are you getting these results with the COVID-19 units? I am certainly not getting anywhere near 1 million PPD estimates, the few times I get units at all the client estimates 100k PPD. Is something wrong with my setup? You probably didn't add a passkey : https://foldingathome.org/support/faq/points...

Re: Storage@Home and platforms

Okay, that's alright I suppose. Perhaps I can run it in a lightweight virtual Linux.

Is there any time frame for the first beta release?

Storage@Home and platforms

Hello, How is the progress on S@H, and more importantly (for me at least) will it be open source and/or multiplatform? Might be able to run it in virtual Linux, but if it would support Solaris in addition to Linux and Windows that would be best. What operating systems are you guys targeting with S@H?

Re: 100,000 points per day folding beast

But the slots on the P6T6 are all single width. So you'd be limited to 3 double width cards. The K9A2 Plat will still take 4 double width cards. To max a single box out you will need to find a WATX board which has the max number of x8 or x16 PCI-E slots in the right place. Then you could fit 5 doub...

Re: Highwater Mark

What's interesting is that the average GFLOPS/GPU is about the same for NVIDIA and ATI, slightly higher for ATI even. This clashes head-on with the points discrepancy between the two. What's going on?

Re: Unbalanced Scoring

How does preventing the machines from doing work help find a cure for cancer? If client A is a GPU and client B is a CPU, client A is going to complete a certain number of WUs regardless of whether or not client B is working on WUs. However, if you take client B away, that's a certain number of WUs...

Re: Folding@Home GPU Client Has Surpassed the PS3 Client

Wait & See :) The 4870X2 already is already more powerful. Wait to see what they have on the GPU front in 2 years. 'More powerful', what do you mean? 32-bit floating point performance in an arbitrary benchmark, no support for industry standard parallel programming languages? It's an entirely di...

Re: Folding@Home GPU Client Has Surpassed the PS3 Client

Soon the 177.79 driver is going to be WHQL'd for all CUDA capable cards, and Nvidia will have an official workaround for multiple CUDA devices in Vista (due to their PhysX) which will also help.. So to say, current GPU client adoption has barely scratched the niche community. The client is now out o...

Re: Heat powers chips

Slightly different devices - the Sterling Engine acts like an old fashioned steam-powered train, and is intended to produce motion. The OP's links generate electricity, which can be used for a wider variety of purposes. MSI's HeatPipe + Sterling-powered fan intrigues me; I wonder how effective and ...

Re: Highwater Mark

They went from 9000-something to 8000-something clients apparently. Perhaps something to do with the server downtime thing?
