Re: Folding on Cloud instructions (3 mil ppd)
After running the command az vm create -n AzureFolding -g myCloudFolding --image debian --generate-ssh-keys --size Standard_NC6s_v2 --priority Spot --max-price 0.30 --storage-sku StandardSSD_LRS I got this error Azure Error: InvalidTemplateDeployment Message: The template deployment failed with erro...

Re: Folding on Cloud instructions (3 mil ppd)
I tried Azure and I got to the step "Req quota increase" and I wasn't able to request an increase because I got the error "Your free trial subscription isn't eligible for a quota increase. To request a quota increase, first upgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go subscription. Learn more" Fro...

Re: Still can’t get new work units
Is there a specific project we should select that will usually have the most amount of work available? I'm in the same boat. Been folding for a year with about a million PPD but I'm lucky to get over 300k now. On my GPU I have 2 folding slots getting errors trying to send and one slot getting an err...

Re: Visualization is not connecting
I started folding 4 months ago and have never been able to get the viewer to work with my RTX 2070 on Windows. Just figured it was broken. Is it supposed to work? Always says "Connection: Trying" and "Protein: Demo".

Re: False detections of banned users
I got the ban message, as well. It said I was IP banned so I connected to my work VPN and it still said I was banned. I no longer get the banned message this morning.

Re: No WUs available for this configuration
I started getting this error this morning. Going on 20 minutes now. I haven't changed any settings and I've been folding for months without any issues. *********************** Log Started 2019-04-08T12:44:01Z *********************** 12:44:01:************************* Folding@home Client ************...

Re: Plotting Overall Folding System Efficiency
While I have no idea what each of my 2070's are pulling power wise, they're not using 220W. All 3 of them are in one rig and total power draw according to my UPS is sitting around 650W. Not bad for 3.3M PPD. If you download the GPU-Z app and click on the Sensors tab it will show you how much power ...

Re: Power supply loud while folding but not during stress te
It is the 14xxx projects which make the sound. How much PPD do you loose on 75%, maybe it is not so much? After a few tests you seem to be 100% correct. I don't hear the noise unless it's one of those projects. Is there a way to avoid those? I see that they're either on server 155.247.166.220 or 12...

Re: 1 core per GPU still holds true?
The PPD should be an average value and PPD depends on work unit and is different on Windows or Linux. But again you can use it as relative value to compare the GPUs. That's why I used the PPD list from Overlock.net. It looks to me like it's updated in real-time from people submitting their personal...

Re: 1 core per GPU still holds true?
I agree ProDigit. Up front cost is the thing here. If you have the up-front capital, the i'd highly recommend 2080ti's all day long. They are the most efficient cards out there in terms of PPD/Watt according to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v5gXral3BcFOoXs5n1M6l_Uo3pZpQYogn6gVlxRPnz0/edit...

Re: Power supply loud while folding but not during stress te
It usually comes from the VRM of the GPU on the graphics card ... the pitch changes according to the load. So the only way to get rid of it is a different GPU/motherboard/power supply combo? Is there any tweaks I can do to my current build to quiet the noise? When I had board affected with this iss...

Re: Power supply loud while folding but not during stress te
I hear the same whirring noise only during folding and it is called coil whine. I don't know if it comes from the GPU or the PSU. With the GPU power usage setting I can adjust the noise frequency or tone and I like the lower sounds at 50% power usage more. But I cannot here the noise if I have othe...

Power supply loud while folding but not during stress tests
I just started folding for the first time and the power supply in my new computer is really loud when I have the power limit of my RTX 2070 GPU at 100% but gets quieter as I lower the limit. Currently I'm only running one GPU slot and no CPU. When I play games or run stress tests it doesn't make the...
