Re: Ryzen

I have a working Xeon rig, 10 cores, 20 threads, and even on that machine there's no real be edit running all cores. I expect the same on ryzen, which shares even more between cores than Intel (hyperthreading). From a perspective of GPU folding, I'm currently running some tests on my system, but if ...

Re: Pause on exclusive Applications

From FAHControl, you can manually pause work units, when you're about to start a game, either individually (by right clicking the graphics card), or pause everything in case you have multiple graphics cards. I'm not with my server right now to verify, but I think that right clicking on a work unit (...

Single Channel vs Dual channel on GPU folding?

For non-CPU folding meaning GPU folding), Did anyone test out if folding performance is affected when running single vs Dual channel memory RAM (not VRAM)? I'm in the process of optimizing my server for FAH, by trimming my server, trying to optimize it for FAH, while keeping the electric bill low. T...

Ryzen

Overclockers posted some impressive results from ryzen CPUs for folding at ~400k PPD, though a non overclocked ryzen 5 should probably hit closer to 100kPPD. https://www.overclockers.com/forums/sho ... -Ryzen-PPD https://www.overclock.net/forum/55-over ... 100?page=3 I'm really surprised, those ryze...

Re: Test WU

I have been getting some good and stable results with overclocking. So saying it will never work is not correct. I use ram and GPU overclocking in conjunction with monitoring GPU activity, voltage and temperature charts. When ram is overclocked too high, there are activity dips I can see every few m...

Re: [Fixed] No available GPUs

One of my machines is running Windows, because it still has this issue in Linux, even after enabling the GPU cores and all that. This is most likely a driver issue. (The windows driver is not the same as the Linux driver.) I'd recommend installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer and then u...

Re: Plotting Overall Folding System Efficiency

The dips in power draw are less than 1 second on my system, and usually decrease in time (width) with lower RAM overclock. I doubt they're responsible for the efficiency spikes. I think PPD in FAHcontrol updates every so many percents of a percent. The spikes might indicate times when fah updates es...

Re: Plotting Overall Folding System Efficiency

This is only true when they're running from a PCIE 16x slot. If they're running from a PCIE1x/4x slot, the power reading is incorrect, as it gets additional power from a riser. In my case, both 1060s are using between 100-110W, deducted from a killawat meter; yet GPUZ reports 107W for one plugged i...

Test WU

I'd really appreciate it, if there was some way of getting a test WU on FAH control, to test overclocking, with feedback on error ratios. I currently have to overclock on the fly, resulting in bad WUs in case I'm not quick enough to down-throttle vram or GPU speed. Sometimes the overclock seems very...

Re: A cure for cancer?

A friend on facebook posted it last week. I was actually surprised. It's "MAY" have found, not "HAS" found. If they had found a cure, we'd be folding for nothing (at least on the cancer department); or it will be a very small batch to fold (just see how the medicine folds with pr...

Re: Plotting Overall Folding System Efficiency

While I have no idea what each of my 2070's are pulling power wise, they're not using 220W. All 3 of them are in one rig and total power draw according to my UPS is sitting around 650W. Not bad for 3.3M PPD. If you download the GPU-Z app and click on the Sensors tab it will show you how much power ...
