Yeah I've got no idea what's doing this. I've tried rebooting my modem, restoring my factory settings, turning off my firewall. I've never had any issue like this before.

Create a DNS name for the missing 171.67.108.45 assign3.stanford.edu I don't know why you're not getting automatic distribution of the DNS record. What bruce means by assign3 should equate to VSP11 is that they are the same host, just assign3 is an alias to that server's IP. That way the client can be coded to connect to assign3, if the server is changed they just have to have that alias resolve to a different address when the DNS is queried....
