Re: How will Patches for Meltdown and Spectre Affect Folding
I'm seeing a big discrepancy between my total estimated PPD reported by FAHControl (48% higher) versus EOC stats. Anything to do with these updates or are the stats hinky??? https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&srt=1&t=224497 There are a few WUs that give slightly higher...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
But if you're not into tinkering too much, you can very easily do: Set the thread priority to high, on both the CPU and GPU application in task manager... I believe you'll find that your Priority change will not persist across WUs or reboots. In BOINC one can make that change permanent in the cc_co...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
Many years ago, FAH initiated a development effort to see if it could run under BOINC. That project was not completed because FAH and BOINC have entirely different concepts of priority. * In FAH, rapid completion of WUs is essential to the assignment process, to the scientific value of the work, an...

Re: Open CL card not found, but card found easily. Linux
Here's how I install F@H 7.5.1 on a new Linux 19 Mint computer. Upgrading from Linux 18 to 19 too littered with bugs and problems. Do a fresh Linux 19 install. It's easier than it used to be: 1. Install Linux 19 iso (v2 or later, v1 has bugs). Reboot. (If Linux 19 already installed then remove any o...

Re: opencl-index=-1
[quote="bollix47"]@DocJonz Open a terminal and try the following after which restart the client and see if the opencl lines look better: sudo apt install ocl-icd-opencl-dev Thanks bollix47. That seems to have fixed my problem as well. I just did new install of Linux 19 Mint Tara with lates...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
Well I'm trying to learn more about Linux everyday, by necessity. However, I doubt I'll ever be proficient enough to write scripts as I doubt I'll live long enough. I've been using BOINC and I sure like it. I set a schedule for every rig (Win or Linux) on the Options tab. I saw a web site that uses ...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
And every F@H WU that pauses for those 5+ hours loses its Quick Return Bonus and is a waste of time. Given the choice to have a QRB I think what's needed is to have a Don't Start If You Cannot Finish A WU before 13:00. It's been suggested here before. My electric rate goes up 7x during Peak Hours so...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
I have 2 similar rigs where I put a 1060 in each 16x 2.0 slot and 2 more up on 1x risers. Lousy for F@H but ok for Asteroids, Milkyway or Einstein. Like Foldy said if you don't have 4 threads that will slow you down some more.
I sure wish F@H was compatible with Time-of-Use scheduling.

Re: 99.99% Bug
I never overclock or change the memory clock. Might be a hot card, summer's here. I'm going to use Steve's reboot script when and if I start folding again. CURE + FLDC used to pay my $1,000 a month electric bill but no longer. Retired and can't pay that. Anyone want some sweet folding rigs at a reas...

This is from Rig-7 and it's a CPU:24 that's hung. Deleting its Folding Slot & adding it back got it started folding again but left a nonsense Download in the Work Queue. ******************************* Date: 2018-06-28 ******************************* ******************************* Date: 2018-06...

ERROR:Guru Meditation
Have not noticed this error before. The first is Rig-3 with a hung GPU. Pause & Fold does not clear it. Rebooting did not fix it. Deleting that Folding Slot and adding it back restarted fold but left a Send & Download in the Work Queue. *********************** Log Started 2018-06-28T01:04:58...

Re: Slow WU downloads & failed transfer [140.163.4.231]
Are you able to open either http://65.254.110.245 and/or http://assign1.foldingathome.org? Both work for me. They both work for me. By the way, we started talking about slow data transfer and failures associated with a specific WS and now you're talking about a DNS failure -- not knowing where to f...

Re: Slow WU downloads & failed transfer [140.163.4.231]
I lost almost half my production for almost a day. Too bad there seems to be no way for F@H to send out a message recommending a DNS cache flush when they reconfigure. Given that my rigs are dedicated headless computers running F@H 24x7 and hopefully rarely need rebooting I don't see why I even want...

Re: Slow WU downloads & failed transfer [140.163.4.231]
Try flushing your dns cache: https://tecadmin.net/flush-dns-cache-ubuntu/ That seems to work. Have to move a monitor from rig to rig since NoMachine works so slow. Did this: sudo /etc/init.d/dns-clean start sudo service network-manager restart So if flushing the DNS cache is good is disabling local...
