i5 4690k / i7 4790k PPD
Hello, i decided its time for a new cpu but i would like to know the PPD of the following cpus: - i5 4690k - i7 4790k - xeon 1231 v3 (unlikely but maybe) Would you recommend buying one of this cpus used on ebay or new? I normally avoid ebay for electronic items but cpus last usually very long, so i ...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Just an update: Was folding for more then a month with my dual core and got ~40.000 points. I decided a few days ago to upgrade my graphics (gtx 960 now) card because my old was to slow. Finished my first gpu project yesterday in 9 hours and got 60.000 points :) I will fold from now on with my graph...

Re: Power consumption calculation
I have now edited my client.
Thank you all for your help, especially bruce and 7im.
I wont produce insane amounts of PDD but i will do it consistently.

Re: Power consumption calculation
Just a suggestion: Smaller projects for older GPUs Joe_H offered this solution on the previous page. Set the client-type to beta, and the max-packet-size to small, and the GPU will process WUs from an older project with longer deadlines. You are a bit right, but he didn´t say anything of beta clien...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Just a suggestion: Smaller projects for older GPUs I got a new GPU project yesterday and tried to complete it, but its again nearly impossible. My GPU need for ~0,5% one hour (full folding power). The project has a 10 day ETA. I have to fold 20 hours a day for 10 days in order to complete this one p...

Re: Power consumption calculation
The current work unit may only be able to use half the processor. After this work unit, the next work unit should use more CPU power if setup correctly. running now 1 cpu project with 2 slots whenever my pc is on. gpu depends on project size :e) Thank you very much for your patience. I dont have an...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Change the -1 in one CPU slot to 2 like I suggested. Remove the second slot. Ok done Now my pc uses ~40% for folding instead of 100% before... Just wanted to fully use my cpu. Thanks for your patient help. Going to autostart cpu folding whenever my pc start and gpu folding when the project is small...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Just to clarify something... If you created another CPU slot, you will be running two separate processes on one CPU each. This will work, BUT note that WUs for single CPUs are sometimes in short supply, and there may be times when you can't get work. Also, the total contribution to science is rated...

Re: Power consumption calculation
I will cpu fold whenever my pc starts. Might not be much for some of you, but i made 800 points (4 WU) since i started last week. I will fold with my GPU on smaller projects. I added another cpu folding process, so that my cpu usage is now constantly at 100% on both cores. To my surprise i could eve...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Noticeable lags are almost always associated with GPU folding. To avoid those lags, GPUs do not fold unless (A) the slider is set for "FULL" or (B) the system detects a idle state (when a screen-saver would run, if you had one, though that's not necessary). Other settings change how many ...

Re: Power consumption calculation
Welcome to the folding support forum. As an approximation, your calculations are good. You would need to use a watt-meter to see what the actual power draw was while folding to have an accurate value. However, running only 3 hours per day your GTS 450 is probably not going to be able to complete cu...

Power consumption calculation
Hello, before i start folding i want to calculate the power consumption costs because iam a student and power isn´t cheap in my country (germany). I can run the folding software while my PC is on. Is the following calculation somewhat accurate? CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Thermal Design Power (TDP): 53...
