Re: 8.4 Open Beta

Re: 8.4 Open Beta
My main complaint about v8.4.x is that unlike v7, when you have completed a work unit, in the logs it doesn't tell you how many points it was granted I frequently find that if I set in the web page to finish a work unit then close the web page, then fah-client then occupies a whole thread, bringing ...

Re: Packaging F@H 8.3 into a Ubuntu snap for easier use
Try downloading: https://download.foldingathome.org/releases/public/fah-client/debian-10-64bit/release/fah-client_8.3.18-64bit-release.tar.bz2 Then extract it to a folder, open the folder, then double-click fah-client You control it from https://v8-3.foldingathome.org/ On my Arch Linux, I did: yay -...

Re: Requesting short work units
As soon as I saw that it had a deadline of 20 days, I knew it would be a long runner, and I aborted it.
I will remove the Advanced flag and see if that results in shorter work units.

Requesting short work units
Recently I have been sent very long work units that would take over 15 days to complete. How can I configure my client to request only short work units, lasting no longer than 24 hours? I have been requesting 'advanced' work units, is that what I did wrong? I have an Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E840...

Re: FAHClient Standalone?
The Windows standalone client can be found here: https://download.foldingathome.org/rele ... fahclient/ It will run from any folder, and doesn't need administrative privileges. Start off by running the client with --configure to create your basic configuration file. I suspect that the client you mig...

Re: No WUs available
For a few days now I have been unable get any work for my 32-bit Linux system. It is usually allocated a4 work units, but I guess there is none available now. Has all the a4 work finished now? 16:29:32:Trying to access database... 16:29:32:Successfully acquired database lock 16:29:32:Enabled folding...

Deadline problem with GPU
My Nvidia GeForce GT 610 keeps downloading work units like Project 9201, which it will take 4.76 days to finish. The problem I have is that the final deadline is only 3.4 days, so I can't finish it in the time allowed. I would love to continue using my GPU for this project, if only I could get work ...

Wow, you're right, it works. For linux try opening the following link with your browser while the client is running:
http://folding.stanford.edu/client/
I'm pleased to have found out about that, thanks for the tip.

Re: ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Server did not assign work un
<cpus v='2'/> I'll edit my config.xml file after I finish my running work unit. When I tried running the Windows standalone FAHClient, you could open up a web page where you could view information about your work unit, and do things like change the power intensity, but the Linux version doesn't see...

Re: ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Server did not assign work un
Reconfigure your client to use both CPUs on the same assignment I'm running the FAHClient as a standalone from the terminal under Linux, so I would need to manually alter my config.xml file in order to do this. I have a single CPU slot in my configuration, but I understood that by default, V7 would...

Re: ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Server did not assign work un
I'm not seeing any problem with the work server. I'll accept that answer, which implies a problem at my end. What I've tried is to delete the config.xml file, and run ./FAHClient --configure to create and configure a new config.xml file. When I tried to run it I still got ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception:...

ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Server did not assign work unit
It was working all right the last time I did a work unit, and I haven't changed anything. I can't tell if the problem is at my end or at the server end. 17:18:45:************************* Folding@home Client ************************* 17:18:45: Website: http://folding.stanford.edu/ 17:18:45: Copyrigh...

Re: Problem with console version.
It's all right, no need to panic, I've sussed it out. It seems I needed to copy all the .dll files from the win32 subfolder into my main fahclient folder. I've configured a single GPU slot, which seems to be running correctly now, and according to GPUZ, my GT 610 is running at 100%, and is at 90°C. ...

Re: Problem with console version.
Yes, I have been running the command line only stand alone FAHClient tarball successfully on another computer with CPU only for some time now, but I want to get it working on my Windows XP computer which has a GT 610 GPU, and has Nvidia driver 334.89 installed. I have searched the forum, but I can't...
