Re: Security Certificate for foldingforum.org

What some forums proxy all images via a domain they control and making everything https that way. But these days almost everyone uses https, so only old links/threads/posts are affected. Unless there's some extension for phpBB that does this automatically, it's probably not worth doing anymore. Some...

Re: 155.247.166.220 downloads stalled

I understand that you all are trying to help when you suggest blocking the IP, but you need to understand that most users don't touch their firewall. I know how to do it, but blocking IPs fall into the "babysitting" I mentioned (and I lack the time to do it) and doesn't address the main is...

Re: 155.247.166.220 downloads stalled

Independently of how things work server side, scaling problems, attacks, etc, the F@H client is terrible at handling these issues. This server is being ddos'ed... ok, that's bad, but why does the client stall? Why do I need to reboot the machine to get it to work again? All servers were having issue...

Knowing that servers have problems from time to time, shouldn't the client handle server-side issues better? I mean, this didn't start with covid-19, we...

Re: Multiple WU's Fail downld/upld to 155.247.166.*

It started again after almost two weeks running without problems. Yesterday both slots got stuck, today it happened again to one of them. I have this machine in a shed outdoors, it's getting cold and I rely on the heat to keep the place at acceptable temperatures. This forces me to stop folding. :| ...

Re: Multiple WU's Fail to Upload 155.247.166.*

No issues uploading so far, but sometimes downloads from 155.247.166.xxx get stuck without me noticing (and this is the result). As others mentioned here, it can only be fixed by rebooting the machine. Is there any way to avoid these servers? Changing the "cause preference" setting doesn't...
