Yeah, the blur would be an overkill for wasting computer resources, but maybe slim wire-frame for connections and smaller bubbles would look quite nice:

Folding@home- the best screen-and life-saver, just make the visuals a bit more bloomy and eye catchy and there we have a few more folders in our pockets
