Re: How is our base of folders coming along?
Yeah I don't think I've ever seen anyone remotely official say on this forum that CPU work isn't important so I'd love to see sources on that one. In response to the huge increase in Covid-related folders, it was explicitly stated that the team was not going to add 'useless' work units simply to ful...

Re: How is our base of folders coming along?
At this point in time tbh I'd prefer the science completed by the fastest route possible … I'll say this makes sense. A lot of people have come into this project very recently with the mindset of a global pandemic so speed seems like the only important thing here. But the problem is what happens wh...

Re: How is our base of folders coming along?
The power of NVidia Saturn V shows I think where much of the GPU work goes. In April alone it's done more than three times what I've done in over fifteen years and I'm only just outside the top 150 of all time. I do worry what happens when this dies down to those corporate superusers - NVidia, Amaz...

Re: WU's not being send to work server 3.*
Maybe You should consider supporting work servers with less storage? The science itself necessitates a large amount of storage space for the data. Fragmenting the infrastructure into even more servers that would then require even more attention than before is a troublesome way to approach the issue...

Re: How is our base of folders coming along?
What can we do to attract more uses? I have a feeling the Coronavirus won't go away anytime soon. Until the servers can keep up with the current volunteers, I feel adding more frustrated volunteers is misguided. When actual work done resembles peak work possible, then add some more users. I continu...

You're not folding with a GPU ergo no GPU detected. CUDA is an NVidia API, AMD cards don't use this. It can be ignored.

You guys act like work units spawn magically out of some piece of hardware just because it's turned on. It's the PEOPLE involved that make these work units.

Re: No WUs available for this configuration
I've been doing this for over ten years and have never encountered a work shortage like this for either CPU or GPU. This is a very unique time in F@H's history given the surrounding world events and recent publicity. Roll with the changes.

Re: How does cloud folding work?
That's somewhat of an oversimplification of what makes up a modern cloud infrastructure, but sure. There's no CPU substitution for what GPUs do, the machine either has a GPU or it doesn't. Most consumer-level cloud services don't have need for a discrete GPU so it's not something they incorporate or...

Re: broken stats page
As far as I know, the URL structure of the stats pages has not changed in some time. The page is initiated by a request that looks something like this: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userpage&username=%(donor) You can copy that URL by right-clicking the stats link in the clien...

Re: Force client to spawn Cores at given Priority
Hi Bruce, thanks for the reply. OS is Windows 10 Pro, hardware is an i5-6500/R9 390 on an MSI Z170A KRAIT. I used to use Prio when I was on Win7 but 10 saw fit to end that. That level of basic simplicity was literally all I needed and it's been difficult to find a similar alternative. I'm checking o...
