Re: Is there a point in CPU folding when GPU is so much bett
Until there are GPUs that can fold without a CPU, CPU folding is never going away. It will always be productive. Once you figure out the actual difference in cost Folding on the CPU, or not, then you can make an informed decision. What are the watts used when folding, and not folding, on that syste...

Is there a point in CPU folding when GPU is so much better?
I have a GTX 970 and a core i7 3750. The GPU seems to finish tasks tens of times faster than the CPU. I also remember reading a while ago on this forum that GPU folding far outclasses CPU folding since it's vastly more power efficient and effective. Does CPU folding even make a dent in the overall f...

Function to turn off PC when WU is done?
I was wondering if the program has this feature. I'd just like to leave my computer unattended and have it automatically turn off when the current WU finishes. How can I achieve this?

Unable to send completed WU (PRCG 9026 [769, 6, 19])
It's on its 5th attempt right now. Collection server says 0.0.0.0 , and work server is 171.64.65.124. My internet connection is just fine, and I haven't changed anything with my firewall. If it manages to send I'll delete this thread.

WU 7526 (Run 59, Clone 9, Gen 81): FahCore_a4.exe crash
I was browsing my computer normally when I got the "FahCore_a4.exe has stopped working" error. It surprised me, because it hasn't stopped working in over a year. I opened Advanced Control and saw that the previous WU was at 100.0% and the new one (7526) at 0.0%, as can be seen in the scree...

Re: 50 dual-core 2.8 GHz computers: Most effective configs?
Well, as far as I can notice, no problems. I have only been allowed to test FAH on two machines so far. The IT director here is (rightfully) crazy about security, he means to run FAH on an isolated environment and analyze the packets it sends and etc when he has time, before he gives me full authori...

Re: 50 dual-core 2.8 GHz computers: Most effective configs?
The dual cores appear to be handling the SMP WUs just fine. From my (limited) taking notice, when those WUs have a preferred deadline of say 5 days, the ETA is usually under a day, and when the preferred deadline is 20 days the ETA is around 3 days.

Re: Could a big spike in energy bill be due to FAH?
Thank you, but Kill-a-watt is not available in Brazil that I know of.
I need to have an estimate of FAH's expenditures so I can deduce it from the energy bill. Currently we split the bill in 3, and doubling up their part because of my folding seems selfish. You think 150 kWh is good?

Could a big spike in energy bill be due to FAH?
Guys, my household's energy bill (3 people) is usually 190-230 kWh. I went back from a 3-month absence (with 2 new housemates, the 2 old ones left) in March and began using FAH from then on. I checked my energy bill from 23 March to 23 April and it's a whopping 430 mWh. I want to determine if there'...

Re: 50 dual-core 2.8 GHz computers: Most effective configs?
I expect that for an X2, running multiple uniprocessor slots/clients will produce fewer FAH points than smp:2 but will also have a lesser impact the other tasks. You'll need to evaluate it carefully. Hmm, in terms of processor usage they should be the same, both cores will be running at 100% regard...

50 dual-core 2.8 GHz computers: Most effective configs?
Hi guys, I have been granted authorization by my college's vice-director and the IT/Computer Lab director (who very much sympathizes with the project and is helping me alot) to run FAH on their 50 computers with "AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+" processor and 1 GB RAM each. These are dual-core 2.8 ...

Re: P. 7011 (2, 95, 79) going ridiculously slow
I left the machine folding overnight and when I woke up the WU had finished, my PPD is now back to usual and the temps and power drawing are back to normal too. It was most definitely the WU's fault.

P. 7011 (2, 95, 79) going ridiculously slow
I have been folding on a Core i5 2500k @ 4.6 GHz for months now. I usually get around 15k PPD from the smp 4 slot, but for this project I noticed I was getting only 5k. Core Temp displays that the processor is drawing 75 Watts instead of the usual 85 Watts or so, and temps are also lower (around 67 ...

Re: Doing a college presentation on F@H, did I forget a topi
Two parents, one sister. My parents both have an i5 2500k processor, but I don't run FAH on their computers because they like silence and FAH would make their computers too noisy. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Re: Doing a college presentation on F@H, did I forget a topi
I had the presentation a few days ago, I did my best to advertise it, even going to each class and giving a summary of what FAH was and asking them to attend my presentation. Despite my best efforts less than 30 people came, and out of those only 8 decided to donate to the project. I sent them e-mai...
