Re: Ideas for new point system
Points are the distance from the carrot to the mouth on the donkey. It controls the donkey speed. The donkey's concern about this distance is natural. Did a quick check. It's not the non-linear curve AFAIK that is at fault, nor PPD, nor variation in hardware. Using 6 different kinds of HW, both Inte...

Re: Ideas for new point system
Like I said, it's not important, but saying it doesn't exist is weird. PS - Please clue me in on the hardware that will get same PPD on P8101 and P8102. I'll go out and config a system to match exactly. PPD ain't a big deal. Correct response is: Yes, the PPD varies a lot between WU's. While we try t...

Re: Ideas for new point system
Yes, I have i5's. And i3's, and i7's, and Xeons. I'd have to check the models and speeds. It's probably close. Maybe 10 Intel machines, and 20 AMD machines. Never all at the same time though, but all have folded. Slow jobs or fast jobs are consistent across hardware. This is not news. But it makes i...

Re: Why isn't TPF averaged (or is it)?
With my machines, once I get them running sweet, the actual TPF variation is small.
The 7.3.6 TPF estimation code is broken. Bad. Think train wreck. Ignore it. Look at the log file.

Re: Ideas for new point system
So what are the plans tO make it more uniform? Are there any suggestions? And which platforms do you mean? Please understand the concept that the points ARE consistent and uniform on the benchmark computer. ... Gotta call foul on that. I run a lot of different machines. Certain jobs are slow or fas...

Re: Can't get work
This would be for future reference. I just deleted the 6.34 install, and reinstalled from scratch, and now it's folding.
It isn't the first time, and I've heard others mention it.
Kind of looking for some insight on what is happening in case it's something I'm doing wrong.

Re: project 7809(5.284.143) longTPF
I've seen a P8101 do this too. Restart drops the TPF a bunch. Unless you are talking about the STATUS tpf and ETA estimates. They don't work on big jobs as far as I can tell. If I'm rock-steady at 21:00 tpf ±0:05 sec for 30 frames, the estimates will vary between 15min and 45min. I have to hand calc...

Re: Do I need to use the screensaver for Medium?
Uh... Does this mean I should run the F@H screensaver on GPU machines, or SMP also? I've never used the F@H screensaver. Or any screensaver for that matter. I use the power button on the monitor.

Re: P8101 - R7 C7 G160
OK, rebooting fixed it. 32:15 so far, that should still make it. Thanks All! Bruce, yeah, I fully expected it to crash when I swapped CPU's. They weren't even the same "family", went from Shanghai to Istanbul? 4Px4C > 4Px6C, right at about 50% completion. I was impressed with both the OS a...

Re: P8101 - R7 C7 G160
Project 8101, Run 7, Clone 7, Gen 160 No data back from query: So no one else has returned the WU. I do not believe that you can conveniently move WU's to another machine without losing the bonus points. The servers monitor the install that was issued the WU and refuse to give bonus points if it is...

Re: P8101 - R7 C7 G160
Sidebar, it's only at 15% progress, and I have faster equip. Is there a way to move it so I don't burn it? If so, PM me please. I hate not making deadlines.
I could tear it apart and swap CPU's to SMP24x2.6ghz, but that means tearing down 2 machines.

P8101 - R7 C7 G160
Stable machine, no errors, running cool, SMP16, no tasks, 2.9ghz.
All the 8101's have been 32:00 TPF so far, the one last night was 31:45 here.
This 7/7/160 is 38:xx TPF.
Is it my equip or the WU?
edit - 100% on all cores, 20% of RAM.

Re: Remote Monitoring?
It was a default 7.2.9 install in the default directory on a Win7-64 folding SMP16 + GPU. I did the Remote changes while it was folding. The reason FAHControl could not edit the necessary lines of the Config file, was because it must be "connected" to the local machine (127.0.0.1) first. I...

Yeah, I got frustrated. It's something simple.
After my daughter's game, I'll go back and set up a couple test computers and try again.
