Re: no download, no error, no message at all
I agree with everything you say in theory, and mostly in practice. Would it be tricky to cat files in the work folder to verify if there is one yet to be worked and if not to re-initiate the download? Or either to give the user configuration of the 15-30 min retry period you describe? This could sol...

Re: no download, no error, no message at all
Has there been any permanent fix for this issue? Ever since before this thread was started it comes and goes intermittently. I have a proposed solution if you are interested. Could checks be built into future client releases that when a WU reaches 75% initiate a download, and then again for each con...

Re: limit cpu usage of cpu client?
thanks everyone. I appreciate knowing what I remembered from way back when won't be useful now.
Since this PC 'needs' to be on and at the set voltage/clocks for its other role as a game server, the box fan sat next to it will have to do.

Re: limit cpu usage of cpu client?
I apologize, due to my assumption that this was a flag feature in the client I assumed it would be OS independent. This is Win 10 and I'm going to try your suggestion, thanks.

Re: limit cpu usage of cpu client?
am I thinking of an outdated flag from an older version? I don't remember specifically enough so I am not arguing with you per se, and I do appreciate your help. I could have sworn I have done this in the past with one of my machines.

limit cpu usage of cpu client?
One of my 3 folding PC's is my old gaming system, now set up as an always on game server/PC at my workbench. It is overclocked and summer is here. It's in my unfinished* basement. I'd like to limit the CPU usage to 90% as it does get warm enough that it's hitting the TDP limit for the cpu, but only ...

best CPU for AMD 770 chipset?
Going through my box of old parts to upgrade a family member's PC. They have agreed to run folding in exchange for an upgrade. I have a pair of Abit AX78 boards, that are the nicest, newest I have to offer them. Currently have a Phenom 9550 & 9850 on them. Specs say AMD 770 chipset, which agrees...

Re: real world experiences with 16GB DDR2?
Partly due to other projects and partly waiting while replacements shipped, not much more had happened with this issue since last I posted. I bought several new modules (the ones in question are also new, recently purchased) from a different manufacturer The first batch just concluded 6 passes with ...

Re: real world experiences with 16GB DDR2?
It will be a 64 bit OS just undecided between 7 pro or which Linux. This is one of two identical boards, one of which is running a pair of 2GB and a pair of 1GB for 6GB so I know that all 4 slots can be populated simultaneously. Plus that one has an old 60GB SSD separate from the boot drive with onl...

Re: real world experiences with 16GB DDR2?
Thanks bruce. Not asking about overclocking, asking if anyone has a better recollection of what steps they may have had to do several years ago with this era of system to get parts that seem to be individually working and on paper compatible to work stably enough to get a folding machine up and runn...

real world experiences with 16GB DDR2?
Every few years I buy identical PCs for my wife and I, hers folds occasionally and mine is folding 99% of the time (as in, I rarely use that PC). The parts I retire I often consolidate and rebuild for family members but this round I have rebuilt my 'server' and was hoping to upgrade it. Currently it...

ok thanks bruce. It had been a long day and this was the most recent thread that came up in the search. Sorry it wasn't more relevant to my question.
So if I understand properly, the only issue is the GPU is no longer supported?

Re: assign3.stanford.edu:8080
Here is the v7 log. Sorry to ask in the wrong place, just saw the similarity in the timeframe and took a shot. Shame about the GPU, it's not that old really. Considering we're still supporting P4 single core cpu's right? This doesn't look like it matches any of the servers discussed there. 21:47:09:...
