Re: Failed to get assignment

I expect that your coppermine says the same thing: Specifically "GPUs: 0" If it also says that, your "much upgraded (for its time) video card" is too old for folding.
Quite right. I will use that to measure the possibility. Thank you too.

Re: Failed to get assignment

If your Atom allow PCIe slots you could add a GPU (like nvidia or AMD) and let the graphic card do most if the work. The Atom instead of folding itself make sure the GPU gets its data. This way you can easy reuse some older HW and put new life in it. Of course things like power supply and cooling n...

Re: Failed to get assignment

Thank you ALL for the educational replies and advice. Best part of this is what I have learned. I will retire both the Coppermine and Atom machines from folding. Thank you again. Amazing support. EDIT: Thought I would give a try to UPPING the CPU slot to 2 CPUs just to see what would happen. Immedia...

Re: Failed to get assignment

AHHHH .. fascinating. I did not know of such a thing. THANK YOU, for the education. From that .. remaining quite ignorant, I just now configured that machine for CPU AFFINITY LOCKING ... to see what would happen. Maybe I will get a WU. Hmmm, .. doesn't seem to help. Odd .. I am almost certain this m...

Re: Failed to get assignment

Thank you both for that insight. Also seem to have the same (type) of problem on an old Windows ME machine ... with an Intel COPPERMINE cpu. I guess the two problems are related(?). But since the second "core" is from HT, it is also possible you will get assignments too large to process wi...

Re: two computers folding

Thank you PantherX. I guess I am 'good to go' .. thanks to all the help I got. Thanks to both respondents.

This thread can be considered SOLVED and CLOSED. I do not see where to mark it so.

Re: two computers folding

Encouraging answer. I will check the logs. Thank you .. your help is appreciated. Edited .. additional info In looking at the two logs . both logs show the same machine number (1). Should I make the 'new' machine '2'? New machine log says: [22:46:08] Project: 6881 (Run 256, Clone 8, Gen 56) (P6881 R...

two computers folding

I have had a linux box folding for several months. I just installed Windows XP/Vista/7/2003/2008, System tray (Systray) client installer with optional viewer 6.23 on a Dell notebook running XP Home SP3. I installed using my folding 'name' and Team number and the passkey I am using on the Linux box. ...

Need to start over

I WAS running on a Linux box which crashed. Before that, I am not sure I was running 'the right' client .. and don't now even know which one it was .. but it was obviously a Linux version. Does ORIGAMI mean anything to anyone? As I recall, that is what I had to execute .. in any case. I also managed...

Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM

I just checked the FAQ and saw nothing about 'closing' a thread or marking it 'solved'. Sorry if I am remiss. Moderators, feel free to set its status properly. thank you.

Re: FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM

Thank you for your reply. I have found support for my problem elsewhere. Most of it is my own ignorance with Linux, and I am sorry if I took your time. If I can figure out how, I will close this thread, but want to thank the forum for their patience.

FAHMON LINUX (XUBUNTU) PROBLEM

Recently upgraded to XUBUNTU Linux 10.04. Before that, everything was working OK. Using FAHMON 2.3.99.1. After upgrade, I make sure ORIGAMI is running, then try to execute FAHMON but now get the following: jb@jb-desktop:~/Desktop$ fahmon (fahmon:3406): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): att...
