Re: What 's up with the bigadv server(s) ?

Bruce; While all the study and discussion of trajectories is very enlightening and informative (I have gained a limited understanding of how things happen in my 5 years of folding), it misses out on addressing the elephant in the room. Why is it that PG does not have a 'cache' of tested and approved...

Re: 130.237.232.140 Not Accepting

I am sure they will have a fix in place as soon as possible. From Dr. Kasson's message it appears that the issue is not with the server instance or waiting for new WU's to generate, but possibly the underlying hardware (RAID volume failure, NIC failure possibly... who knows). What happens to the WU'...

Re: 130.237.232.140 Not Accepting

Thanks for the speedy reply Peter. Even getting the WU details to the collection/results server would be nice.

It is slightly disappointing when the processing is done and you can't get the results sent back, and more so when it is multiple units.

I hope it is up and running again soon.

130.237.232.140 Not Accepting

I have 2x SMP bonus units sitting here that I would really like to upload for the science. I do see that the remaining available WU's on this server is very low.

Any chance of at least accepting units crunched?

Re: FahMon (multi-platform app to monitor various F@h clients)

Fungus - Any chance of 2.3.5 with the GPU2 Core 13 to come up with something other than 'unknown'??

Or better still - being able to rename it in a config file? I'd like to call it crapsicle or something.

Re: FahMon (multi-platform app to monitor various F@h clients)

Synchronise time across all affected machines, plus the monitoring box.

Re: Points are (or should be) social engineering

Why are we arguing over points? I think there is a worthwhile discussion here for us to calmly put forward ideas to make the points system better for all concerned. I do like the idea of splitting each contributor's points by client - it gives a much nicer picture of what you have actually achieved....

Re: Points are (or should be) social engineering

I am still wondering why there is no measure of simulation time provided for by the stats. Obviously there is a MASSIVE db there with all the user results in it. Now the average simulation time in ns is known for each unit (and possible more granular than that, obviously we know that some units myst...

Re: Unbalanced Scoring

It would be helpful if you had opened your eyes to what others were saying in the beginning instead of being so blinkered by the percieved injustice of the current points situation then we may have had a resolution to the issue. You seemed to be adamant the points should be about the time donated re...

Re: Unbalanced Scoring

I said it before and I'll say it again: I really don't care about points--I care about donated time. Well, I hate to break it to you, but you will never get a fair and balanced points system in your mind unless we go to everyone using the same specc'd computer with no overclocks allowed, all runnin...

Cancer to eat itself? [Stanford mentioned in article]

A microscopic cellular assassin, capable of making cancerous kidney cells eat themselves to death, could eventually become a cancer-curing drug, thanks to Auckland University research. The small molecule, dubbed STF-62247, was discovered by Stanford University researchers, with their findings publi...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?

1) Does any quad machine represent any dual machine? (and also for other numbers of cores) Of course it does not - and even more so when the underlying architecture is totally different. You virtually cannot buy a platform like the benchmark machine anymore.... there aren't many dual-socket dual-co...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?

While it was mentioned in this thread briefly, I have not been into other threads on the subject of benchmarking. I try and stay out of here as much as I can for reasons that are obvious to both of our teams. Now they have changed the points after pressure from the community, and the SMP contributor...
