Re: Daily stats update timed 15:00
lol Jason at EOC (a great guy, if his e-correspondance is any indication) has nothing useful to say yet except, "Stanford updates their stats in real-time, and we here at EOC only update every 3 hours." This statement blew me away, as it indicates a vast misunderstanding of how the stats h...

Re: Daily stats update timed 15:00
I am currently looking around for answers to this question. Can an Admin or somebody from Pande/Stanford please comment on the delay period between when an update on Stanford's servers is completed, and when it's captured (for lack of any more technical a term) by the stats update sites out there? I...

Re: CPU Architecture and FAH
Lol nah, if AMD can't compete, they'll just whine until somebody makes Intel pay to keep their operation afloat. Thank you, EU >.<

Re: CPU Architecture and FAH
Thanks, Bruce, and well put! Just picked up a(nother) used i7, plan on putting it and a 295 online as soon as I can afford RAM and a PSU in addition to what I've got running now. Any word on how i9 Intels will perform? similarly to i7 (with scale-up for additional cores) or will there be an improvem...

Project: 5797 (R22, C87, G8)
Working at half speed. Client and entire machine have been restarted multiple times. Still yielding about twice the TPF of other 787 WUs.

Ditto. Vista 64, GTX 280, fails before a single computation is performed.

Re: CPU Architecture and FAH
I'm fairly confident in my understanding of my PPD/$ ratios on these various levels of technology, I guess my question revolves directly around a lack of understanding of efficiency/architecture. What I'm gathering is that a quad core is more capable than a dual core (2x cores=2x work), although as ...

Re: CPU Architecture and FAH
I am awed by the depth of understanding present in this forum. I stand to learn a lot! I suppose I would like, for a moment, to dumb this conversation down and ask the point-blank question: Other than in terms of pure PPD, am I gaining anything (besides a heftier power bill) by utilizing an Intel VT...
