Stats update includes a new feature: monthly leaderboard
In our regular updating of FAH systems, we’ve done a recent update of the stats website internals to help speed them up and bring them to new infrastructure that should be more reliable. Along the way, lead FAH Programmer Joseph Coffland added a suggestion from FAH Marketing Relations lead Anton Thy...

Where can I learn more?
For those new to FAH, here’s a reminder for where the nitty gritty details can be found if people are interested to learn more than what’s on our web site. In terms of new projects and more detailed (less high level) announcements, they’re here on the FCF: viewforum.php?f=24 For code updates, our sc...

Re: Stats summary files
Thanks for bearing with us with this. Stanford is closed this week so Carlos and the team are admirably working on their vacations to get this done. This is unfortunately often an issue during the holidays and is something we’re prepping for since Stanford closes annually for 2 weeks in late December.

Re: Andreessen Horowitz Gets a New GP, and a New Fund
Both Bruce and Ed are right. Being a General Partner is a major time commitment. However, FAH is run very differently than it was 15 years ago. At that time, I was doing coding, science, PR, management –– basically everything with the help of a few part time people. Now, there’s a team of 20+ people...

Re: Are finished WU verified?
Good question. Short answer: No, folding isn’t NP complete (otherwise biology couldn’t exist). Checking WUs is a longer and pretty technical discussion.

Re: OpenACC?
OpenACC is for adding some GPU acceleration to non-GPU codes. The most performant solution is to write it for the GPU from the ground up in CUDA or OpenCL, as we’ve done in OpenMM (the key code for FAH GPU cores). OpenACC is more for legacy codes which could use some GPU acceleration. In that contex...

Re: Stats server is down, again
We’ve made some config updates and the problem should be much better now, even hopefully resolved. We’re seeing NaCl assigns and other issues resolved. Are other donors also seeing this as fixed?
